Woman in downstate ATV crash died of multiple injuries

Investigators in central Illinois say a 70-year-old Stanford woman killed in an ATV accident suffered multiple injuries, especially to the head, neck and chest.

McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling released preliminary findings from the autopsy performed Tuesday on Mary Masters.

Authorities say Masters was a passenger on the all-terrain vehicle when it collided with a minivan Sunday night in Stanford.

The man riding the ATV with Masters was also taken to a hospital, but there’s no word on his condition Wednesday. The minivan’s driver wasn’t hurt.

Kimmerling says she’s waiting for the results of toxicology tests. The McLean County Sheriff’s Department is also investigating.

Stanford is located about 12 miles southwest of Bloomington.
