A Waukegan man who was out on parole for a 2010 drug-related conviction has been charged after police found crack cocaine and marijuana at his residence, authorities said.
Waukegan police executed a search warrant at a home on the 800 block of Prescott Street on Thursday and seized 1.7 grams of crack cocaine and 13.8 grams of cannabis, police announced Tuesday.
Officers arrested 29-year-old Dure A. Shellie. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of cannabis.
Shellie was released from prison on parole in June of this year on a conviction for possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records.
Shellie was serving a six-year sentence and had been taken into custody on the original charge in June 2009.
Waukegan Police Chief Daniel Greathouse said his department is continuing its pursuit of drug dealers and is encouraging residents to call police if they suspect there is a drug dealer in their neighborhood.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
