Experts at issue in Lake County murder trial

Prosecutors and defense attorneys continue to discuss which experts will be allowed to testify in the upcoming murder trial of Deerfield’s Daniel Baker, 24. Lake County Assistant States Attorney Patricia Fix and defense attorney Ed Gensen questioned the relevance of experts during a brief court hearing Tuesday morning. The sides are continuing to push for an Oct. 9 trial. Baker is accused of the murder of Marina Aksman, 50, of Vernon Hills, who was killed in April 2010. Authorities say Baker has confessed to police that he committed the crime after the woman tried to end a relationship Baker was having with her 20-year-old daughter, Kristina.
