Elk Grove Township hosts tax appeal seminars

Elk Grove Township residents can attend two property tax assessment appeal seminars this month, at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 and 7 p.m. Sept. 18, both at the township office, 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak will explain how property taxes are calculated and the appeal procedure, and taxpayers can consult Board of Review staff to address their specific questions. On Sept. 5 the session is hosted by Elk Grove Township Assessor Connie Carosielli and Township Clerk Michael Sweeney; the Sept. 18 one is hosted by Carosielli, Cook County Commissioner Timothy Schneider, state Rep. David Harris and Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson. Free. Bring a copy of your most recent tax bill. There is no fee to appeal at the Board of Review; deadline to appeal is Sept. 18. Patlak, a Republican, is running for reelection in November against Democrat Casey Thomas Griffin.
