Larkin’s Hansana wins Cary-Grove singles title

Larkin’s Mary Hansana won the No. 1 singles championship and Cary-Grove took the team title Saturday at the Cary-Grove girls tennis invitational.

Hansana beat second-place Victoria Pierce of Cary-Grove to win the singles crown.

Jessica Hinojosa of Cary-Grove won the No. 2 singles championship with Larkin’s Baylee Matison placing third.

Cary-Grove took second at No. 1 doubles as the team of Macy Koepke/Alyssa Derer went 2-1 on the day. The Trojans were also second at No. 2 doubles with Rita O’Connell/Christine Sweinberg also going 2-1. Margaret Gray/Abby Jakubicek took third place at No. 3 doubles for the Trojans.

Cary-Grove garnered 10 team points to edge Antioch by a point for the team title. Mundelein was third with 7 points.

At Hononegah: Hampshire won the Hononegah Invite as Hannah Hoaglund took first at No. 1 singles and Monica Patthana/Julie Schreiner won the No. 1 doubles title. Angela Wozniak/Sydney Zilch took second at No. 2 doubles as did Katelyn Schoedl/Abby Eischen at No. 3 doubles for the Whip-Purs. Amanda Schultz was fourth at No. 2 singles.
