Fox Lake man charged with heroin posession, sale

A Fox Lake man is held in lieu of $50,000 bail after being busted for selling heroin to undercover police officers, Fox Lake police said.

John Aprile, 53, of the 100 block of Nippersink Drive, has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia after he was arrested Wednesday at his home, Lt. Jeff Norris said.

Aprile’s roommate, Kevin Gatschet, 49, was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon, Norris said.

Undercover officers purchased a large quantity of heroin from Aprile during an arranged buy on Tuesday, Norris said. Officers obtained a search warrant for Aprile’s home and served it about 5 p.m. Wednesday and arrested Gatschet in the process.

In the middle of the search, Aprile arrived at the house on a motorcycle and was immediately taken into custody without incident.

Aprile must post 10 percent of his bail in order to be released from custody, authorities said. Gatschet is held in lieu of $60,000 bail, of which 10 percent must be posted for release.
