Salgado salvos propel Round Lake

A double dose of Salgado helped carry Round Lake's boys soccer team Thursday.

Miguel Salgado scored twice, and Mauricio Salgado (no relation) had a goal and an assist, as the Panthers blanked Johnsburg 4-0 in a nonconference match.

Abraham Murua's goal had the Panthers up 1-0 at halftime. Mauricio Salgado set up Miguel Salgado's first tally.

Then after Round Lake keeper Jose Martinez blocked a penalty kick for one of his 6 saves, Mauricio Salgado scored off an assist from Freddie Ramirez.

Crystal Lake South 3, Lake Zurich 2: At Barrington, John Repplinger and Ryan Wagoner scored for the Bears.

The Gators (2-3, 1-2) led 1-0 at halftime and later increased their advantage to 3-1.

Huntley 1, Wauconda 0: The Red Raiders improved to 4-0 with their fourth shutout.
