Purdue group meets to discuss Daniels appointment

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Some Purdue University students and faculty members remain dissatisfied about the selection of Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels as the school’s next president.

A group called the Society for an Open, Accountable Purdue plans an open forum Friday afternoon at Stewart Center on the West Lafayette campus.

Graduate student Stephanie Orstad tells the Journal & Courier that many people are still bothered that Daniels either appointed or reappointed all of the Board of Trustees members who picked him.

That board voted unanimously last month to hire Daniels. He’s set to begin the Purdue job in January when his term as governor ends.
