Oakton ranked third in nation by students

Oakton Community College in Des Plaines has been ranked third in the nation — behind San Diego City College and Hostos Community College in New York — by RateMyProfessors.com, the largest online destination for college professor ratings.

The rankings are based entirely on students’ input.

The annual list ranks universities, university professors, junior colleges, and junior college professors. The rankings for best schools were determined by analyzing both professor ratings and campus ratings.

The site is owned and operated by MTV’s college network, mtvU.

“There’s no higher honor for teachers and schools than to be praised by the students who are being impacted by their influence every day,” said Carlo DiMarco, senior vice president, Strategic Partnerships and Development, mtvU.

RateMyProfessors.com had 7.5 million unique visitors in April 2012. It rates more than 7,500 schools and 1.7 million professors.
