Terri Edmunds, 45, Naperville
What is your favorite ingredient and how do you like to use it? I'm not sure I have just one favorite ingredient. I enjoy using fresh herbs from my garden to enhance any and all dishes (thyme, rosemary, basil, dill, parsley) and I also enjoy using a variety of spices.
Describe your style or approach to cooking. My style and approach to cooking is really quite simple. As the saying goes, "do what you love and the money will follow." My approach is "use what you love and the dish will follow." I don't follow recipes and I never measure any ingredients. Instead, I use the types of fresh ingredients I love, and experiment with spices and sauces as I go along. Sauces are important to me so I try to enhance any ordinary, ho hum dish (i.e. chicken) with a sauce that adds a "wow" factor.
Why do you want to be part of the Cook of the Week Challenge? This sounds like such a unique opportunity to learn more about cooking and to discover, uncover and explore my cooking abilities in a different venue than my home kitchen. Additionally, it would be a great opportunity to learn from others.
