Waterleaf Restaurant hosts Miner Winery Dinner Sept. 19

Waterleaf restaurant in Glen Ellyn will host a Miner Winery wine dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 19, which will feature premium wines from this celebrated Napa Valley winery.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by a four-course prix fixe dinner at 7 p.m. paired with carefully selected wines from Miner Winery, including Viognier, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The winery, founded in 1999 by then newlyweds Dave and Emily Miner, currently harvests from nine vineyards in Napa Valley and the surrounding area. Selecting only those vineyards that allow them complete farming control, the Miners' attention to detail and control ensures the consistency and quality of their wines.

Menu items and wine pairings include Lemony Yukon Gold Soft Potatoes and Wasabi Flying Fish Red Caviar and Pickled Cauliflower Florets, paired with 2010 Miner Family Vineyards, Viognier, Simpson Ranch, Calif.; Smoked Paprika Dusted Bay Scallop Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette, Artisan Greens and Chives Batons, paired with 2009 Miner Family Vineyards Chardonnay, Napa Valley, Calif.; Barbecued Slow Smoked Beef Cheeks and Creamy Polenta with Black Garlic and Roasted Corn and Wilted Organic Arugula, paired with 2009 Miner Family Vineyards Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands, Calif., and 2009 Miner Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, Calif.; and Cardamom and Red Wine Poached Anjou Pear with Caramelized Orange Sauce, Chocolate Marble and Bourbon Vanilla Ice Cream.

Known for its use of fresh, locally-grown, seasonal ingredients, Waterleaf restaurant in Glen Ellyn also recently received a three-star review from Crain's Chicago Business. In addition, the fine-dining restaurant has earned Diner's Choice Awards for Best Ambience, Best Overall, Best Service, Fit for Foodies and Special Occasion on OpenTable.com, where it maintains a 4.6/5.0 rating. Waterleaf will host its inaugural Wine and Food Festival on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. Ten area vendors and distributors will showcase more than 300 different wines at the event, which will also feature two local breweries, live jazz music, food stands and take-home gifts for each guest.
