2013 school board election information announced
The election process is gearing up for the April 9, 2013, school board elections.
Des Plaines Elementary School District 62 announced that nominating petition forms for the election are now available from Margaret Goodchild at Leon Smaage Administration Center, 777 E. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, on any business day between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The first day petitions may be circulated is Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Four 4-year positions are to be filled on the District 62 Board of Education. As of the 2013 school board election, Stephanie Duckmann, Steven Adams, Ronald Burton, and James Poskozim's terms will expire.
To be eligible to serve, a school board member must be, on the date of election, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, a resident of the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the election, and a registered voter.
Elections are nonpartisan and board candidates are not required to indicate a political party affiliation. Candidates should be aware of financial conflict-of-interest limitations set forth in The School Code.
Further election details with filing dates will be posted on the District 62 website, d62.org, as they become available. Contact Margaret Goodchild, board secretary, at (847) 824-1170 for more information.
