Girls volleyball / Lake County roundup

Lakes’ girls volleyball team improved to 2-0 by beating visiting Waukegan in two sets Thursday night.

Stephanie Reed dished out 15 assists, served 10 of 12 with 2 aces and chalked 6 digs. Haley Halberg was 7-of-7 serving with 1 ace, while Emily Aigner pounded 6 kills. The Eagles also got 4 kills, 2 aces and 5 digs from Sarah Horner.

Johnsburg d. Grant: The visiting Bulldogs fell in three sets, despite 7 kills from Alyssa Wilhelm. Jamie Reiser served 11 of 11 with an ace and set 35 of 37 with 12 assists. Mallory Gizowski added 4 kills and 2 solo blocks for Grant. Brooke Buckley also had 7 kills for the Bulldogs.

Lake Zurich d. Buffalo Grove: Rhode Island-bound Layne Self slammed 10 kills in the Bears’ 25-15, 25-16 win. Nicole Morrissey added 5 kills for Lake Zurich (1-1).

Fremd d. Vernon Hills: Brie Bahlmann and Jenn Claussen had 4 and 3 kills, respectively, for the Cougars in their 25-13, 25-23 loss.
