Arlington Heights taking applications for citizen police academy

The Arlington Heights Police Department is now taking applications for the fall session of its Citizen Police Academy.

The Citizen Police Academy is an 11-week program with one 3-hour class each week. The academy provides hands-on experiences and insights into the nature and function of police services in Arlington Heights.

The academy includes classroom lessons, open discussions, multimedia presentations, demonstrations and practical exercises in all fields of police work ranging from patrol operations and forensic sciences to criminal investigations and gang crimes. The academy is provided free to residents or business leaders from Arlington Heights in both spring and fall sessions.
