Carpentersville man sentenced for sexual contact with teenager

A 43-year-old Carpentersville man who had repeated sexual contact with a girl who was younger than 17 has been sentenced to three years in prison.

A Kane County judge sentenced Johnny Haskins of the 1-99 block of Oxford Drive Thursday.

Hawkins was convicted on two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse on June 27 for the sexual contact, which occurred between January 2009 and November 2009.

The victim reported the abuse to a school counselor, who alerted authorities.

Haskins has been held in the Kane County jail for at least 285 days since his arrest and was given credit for the time served, according to prosecutors.

Haskins must also register as a sex offender for life.

“At the very least, the most vulnerable in our community must be allowed to feel safe in their own homes, in their own bedrooms,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said in a news release.
