Daily Herald report

A public hearing regarding a controversial rezoning request for property at the southeast corner of Route 12 and Old McHenry Road again has been continued. The Lake County Zoning Board of Appeals was to have considered the request for commercial zoning for the 109-acre Dimucci property in unincorporated Lake County on Aug. 15 and then Aug. 29. But county planners again asked for a continuance to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at Concorde Banquets, 20922 N. Rand Road, Kildeer, which was granted. In seeking a request, planners said continuing discussions with the villages of Hawthorn Woods and North Barrington regarding the project have been productive. The property owners are seeking to rezone the land from residential to allow for commercial use of up to 53 acres. Opponents question the impact of such a development, though no developer has been selected or specific plans presented. Visit www.lakecountyil.gov/dimucciproperty.
