Otters blank Boomers

The Schaumburg Boomers managed just 5 hits and stranded 10 men on base in a 4-0 loss to the Evansville Otters on Tuesday night at Boomers Stadium.

The Boomers (48-37) loaded the bases twice with nobody out but failed to score on either occasion. Schaumburg's first three batters of the game reached via walks as Karexon Sanchez coaxed an 8-pitch walk and both Nate Baumann and Frank Pfister took first after being hit by a pitch.

Evansville's Bryce Morrow coaxed an infield fly and a double play to get out of the inning unscathed. Morrow allowed just 3 hits over his 6 innings of run-free baseball to even his record at 7-7.

Schaumburg also loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, however this time it was reliever David Kubiak for Evansville who made the pitches to get out of the jam.

Drew Heithoff flew out to deep left for the first out, Kubiak struck out Baumann for the second out and coaxed a groundout to second from Pfister on the way to his second save of the season for the Otters.

Cameron Roth put forth a solid effort on the mound despite taking the loss for the Boomers. The lefty allowed 3 runs on 6 hits over his 6 innings for Schaumburg and fell to 8-8.

Steve McQuail, with a pair of singles, was the only Boomer with multiple hits, and Sanchez reached base three times with a double and 3 walks.
