Prospect off to winning MSL start

Four-time defending Mid-Suburban League champ Prospect kicked off its conference schedule on Monday with a 161-227 triumph over visiting Wheeling at the Mt. Prospect Golf Course.

The Knights (3-0) received a 1-over par 36 from junior Kiley Walsh, who earned medalist honors ahead of runner-up and teammate Noelle Johnston (40). Completing the Prospect scorecard were Isabella Flack (42), Jenny Geraghty (43) and Erin Runde (43),

The Wildcats were led by seniors Jackie Resnik (48) and Kaitlin DeBusk (49).

Hersey d. Maine West: Junior Flo Eitelbach shot a 2-over 38 to lead host Hersey to a 169-187 nonconference dual meet win at Rob Roy. Other scores that counted for the Huskies were Lexi Heidkamp (41), Katie McIlree (44) and Calire Schwaba (46).

Kayla Hansen (44), Olenka Kalinowski (46), Katie Dzul (46) and Natalie Kozenczak (51) led the visiting Warriors.

Practice makes perfect: Conant senior Jackie Halden shot a hole-in-one during a practice round at Walnut Green on Friday. The four-year varsity golfer aced the par 3, 71-yard No. 4 hole using her pitching wedge. The co-captain has been in the Cougars’ No. 1 position the last two years. It was her first hole-in-one.
