Palatine library encourages visits

September is National Library Card Signup month and the Palatine Public Library District will celebrate with giveaways and contests for current and first-time cardholders. Visit any of its locations during the month of September to get a new library card and receive a welcome gift. Current cardholders who use their cards at the library will receive a thank-you gift as well.

Be sure to visit the library throughout the month, use your card, and enter our contest for a chance to win an e-reader. Entry forms will be available at all locations. Second- and third-place winners will receive a gift card.

“A library card empowers you to do more than just borrow books,” said Susan Strunk, library director. “You can use it to rent movies, attend an event, reserve a meeting space, or gain access to online job hunting tools.”

Getting a library card is easy. Just stop by the main library located at 700 N. North Court, in Palatine, or one of the branch locations. Provide two forms of identification (including at least one photo ID) showing your current residency within the Palatine Public Library District. Children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult when applying for a card.

The North Hoffman Branch is located in the Willow Recreation Center, at 3600 Lexington Drive, Hoffman Estates. The Rand Road Branch is located in the Palatine Opportunity Center, at 1585 Rand Road in Palatine.

Your Palatine library card also provides even greater value during the month of September, when you “Show Your Card,” to get reduced rates on products or services from participating businesses in the community. A promotional brochure is available at all Library locations and online at www.palatinelibrary.org.

The Palatine Public Library District, www.palatinelibrary.org is your destination for knowledge, entertainment, and community.
