Palatine Street Fest starts Friday

Palatine Street Fest 2012, a free festival in downtown Palatine, begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, and runs through 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26.

Here’s a look at some of the food, music and events that will be part of the party.

Events

Ÿ CycleFest 2012, 10 and 20 mile rides, 9 a.m. Saturday, Towne Square, Smith Road and Slade Street, can register on-site until 8:45 a.m., information at bikepalatine.com.

Ÿ Mariano’s Fresh Market Kids Zone, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, $5 all-inclusive activity wristbands for sale through Aug. 24 at Mariano’s, 545 N. Hicks Road, with proceeds going to the Palatine Township Food Pantry.

Ÿ Community Outdoor Bingo, noon-6 p.m. Saturday, hosted by Palatine American Legion Post 690.

Ÿ Palatine Park District Feet Fest 3K Family Fun Run/Walk, 8:30 a.m. Sunday, at Towne Square, Smith and Slade Street. Register at the Community Center, 250 E. Wood St.; Birchwood Recreation Center, 435 W. Illinois Ave.; Falcon Park Recreation Center, 2195 N. Hicks Road; or online by 2 p.m. Saturday.

Ÿ Sweet Pea Pet Parade, 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Presented by Foxglove Cottage and the Music Room
