Boomers walk to 5-2 win

The Schaumburg Boomers drew a franchise-record 11 walks and rode the arm of Alex Rivers to claim the first game of a weekend series with the Road Warriors 5-2 Friday night at Boomers Stadium.

With the victory and losses by the Windy City ThunderBolts and division-leading Gateway Grizlles, the Boomers (47-35) sit 1 game back in the West Division standings with 14 games remaining.

The Boomers jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back despite collecting just 4 hits. Schaumburg had runners on base all night as the Boomers, lead by Karexon Sanchez’s 4 walks, earned 11 free passes and made the most of their 4 hits.
