Members of new Prospect Heights Tourism Board appointed

The Prospect Heights city council has appointed members to the city’s newly-formed tourism board. Mayor Nicholas J. Helmer and City Administrator Anne Marrin will be joined by Michael Newman, Crown Plaza Hotel; Sean Patel, Comfort Inn; and Holly Allgauer, Hilton Northbrook. The city council voted in June to create a tourism board, part of the city’s efforts to establish a tourism zone from Milwaukee Avenue and River Road north to the Chicago Executive Airport and west to Wolf Road. The city hopes to raise sales tax revenue and to generate the money for beautification programs. The move marked the end of the city’s Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, as the city joined the North Shore Convention and Visitor’s Bureau at the request of local hotel owners. Furthermore, the city council reappointed Joe Schuerman, Sharon Beyda and Matthew Domanico to the Economic Business Development Committee.
