Dreading the national election
Dreading the national election
Today I received an 8x10 glossy of a presidential candidate, thanking me for being a loyal party supporter. I guess I should feel flattered. I watched the correspondence go through the shredder and only felt irritated.
I vote in every election, but have never contributed financially or volunteered to work with a national political party. Nor do I have plans to start. My time and money are earmarked for nonprofits working in the community.
Besides the mail appeals, I am already are receiving a phone call every day for a poll or survey. It is frustrating that politicians do not have to follow the “do not contact” practices of the direct mail and telemarketing industries. I have no control over how my contact information is shared or an option to be removed from a political list.
With less than 100 days to go, I am dreading the national election. I can’t wait for them to go away ... there will be at least a year of peace before it begins again.
