Coolidge wrong on U.S. budget

This past week, Nancy Josefchuk of Barrington wrote that she was in favor of Democratic candidate Leslie Coolidge, who was running in the new 6th District for Congress. She was impressed with Coolidge’s views especially on raising the debt ceiling. She claimed that Coolidge believed that we needed a new Congress to improve the financial situation of our country. Well, I disagree with both Josefchuk and Coolidge’s viewpoints.

Our debt ceiling is outrageously high now, and we don’t need another tax and spend Democrat in Congress to make it even worse. I hope that both Josefchuk and Coolidge operate their households better than what Obama and the Democrats have done for this country and its economy.

Because of them, according to a television program, now more than one million people receive assistance from the government, which does not include Social Security and Medicare payments. There are approximately 45 million persons receiving food stamps. Less than 50 percent of American taxpayers paid no income tax last year.

Josefchuk stated that as a teacher she has always stressed to her students the importance of personal responsibility. Too bad that she hasn’t tried to convince Obama and the Democrats to do likewise. Whoever is Coolidge’s Republican opponent should be voted into office.
