McHenry man charged with sexual assault
A 44-year-old McHenry man has been arrested on a sexual assault charge.
On Monday, sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported sexual assault, and while meeting with the victim and other witnesses, police identified the suspect and his location, the sheriff’s office announced Wednesday.
Sheriff’s investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on the 2700 block of Sterling Avenue along with a SWAT team and arrested Scott W. Wurtz on Tuesday.
Wurtz was charged with criminal sexual assault, unlawful restraint and battery, according to police.
More charges may be filed, as the investigation is ongoing.
Wurtz appeared in court Tuesday and posted 10 percent of the $100,000 bail a few hours later, according to jail records.
He is due back in court Aug. 28.
