Bartlett fire station to host health fair and blood drive

The Bartlett Fire Protection District would like to invite the public to attend its Pink Heals Health Fair and Blood Drive Wednesday, Aug. 22. The health fair and blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Fire Station 1, located at 234 N. Oak Ave. in Bartlett.

Representatives from Sherman Hospital, Saint Alexius Medical Center, Provena Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Hanover Township’s Office of Community Health, and the Bartlett Police Department will be present to distribute health and safety information. Additionally, bone density, cholesterol, blood pressure and varicose vein screenings will be available. Life Source will be on site for any participants interested in donating blood.

The Pink Heals organization will be present with its pink fire trucks. Pink Heals helps police and fire departments raise money for charity. Their mission is to raise awareness and support for women who are facing all types of cancer. Pink Heals requests that any money raised during the event is used to help women in the community affected by cancer.

In support of the Pink Heals mission, the Bartlett Fire Protection District will be selling T-shirts and sweatshirts to raise money for local women battling cancer. If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, visit www.wakohwear.com/pinkheals. Shirts will be available for pickup Friday, Aug. 31, or Saturday, Sept. 8, at Fire Station 3, located at 1575 W. Bartlett Road. A limited number of shirts will be available for sale at the Health Fair.

Through Friday, Aug. 24, Bartlett firefighters will be wearing pink T-shirts as their daily uniform to show support for Pink Heals.
