See the photography of Robert Dicke at Waukegan Public Library

Robert Dicke will showcase his photography starting Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Waukegan Public Library's Gallery 128. Dicke's photograph series titled “Portraits, Still Life & 3-D” will open during Waukegan Main Street's ArtWauk event from 5-8 p.m. and features prints that use varying artistic effects to create photographs that look like illustrations. Dicke's photograph series will be on display until Friday, Oct. 12. The Waukegan Public Library is at 128 N. County St., Waukegan.

In 2007, Dicke produced a series of pictures that he titled “Painting with Light” that involved the use of light and shadow. By 2008, “Painting with Light” had been exhibited at nine different galleries in Chicago.

His second series of photographic prints was called “Modern American Past” that paid homage to American history by re-creating a historic figure or event today. From this set of images, his photograph titled “Ghosts of War” was featured on the Ovation TV website and received an award in 2009.

The current photographic prints series, “Portraits, Still Life & 3-D,” is Robert's third series of photographic prints. The effects used in his current exhibit come through in his creative methods behind the camera, in the darkroom, and with the aid of computers.

Photographer Robert Dicke has a bachelor of arts degree from Concordia University and is a professional artist who has exhibited in galleries and art shows in the Chicago area for the past decade. His extensive portfolio also includes photographs that have appeared in national magazines. You can check out Robert's other art projects on his website, dickearts.weebly.com.
