Family Service opens Avon Township office

Family Service invites the community to attend the Grand Opening of its new office in Avon Township at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9. The event will be held at the Avon Township Office, 433 East Washington St., Round Lake Park. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call (847) 432-4981, ext. 47.

The new office will be staffed by the Family Service Access-to-Care team of Laura Pearson, RN; Gale Harris, LCSW; and Douglas Raul Williams, bilingual ombudsman. The Access-to-Care team provides health-and-wellness services, counseling, and holistic referrals to seniors in northwestern Lake County. All services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to clients.

Family Service has partnerships with many organizations across the region, and the Access-to-Care team regularly provides consultations and activities at area senior centers, senior residences, and park districts, as well as providing in-home and group counseling.

The Access-to-Care initiative has been funded for the past three years by the Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County. Sam Yingling, Avon Township supervisor, and the Avon Township trustees have generously provided the Access-to-Care team with an office for appointments and drop-in consultations, as well as with a grant to support use of Access-to-Care services by area residents. Office hours are available at the township building from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays.
