• Andrew Crane, 26, of the 1600 block of Camelot Lane, Hoffman Estates, was charged with theft July 28 at the Jewel grocery store on the 1000 block of Summit Street, according to police reports. Crane was an employee of the store; he told a manager someone had threatened him and told him to take all the money and meet him two blocks away, police said. Crane took $23,842 from the cash registers and safe and hid it, reports said. When police interviewed Crane, he said he made up the story, reports said. The money was returned, and Crane was taken to the police department.
• Bilal Kareem Hussaini, 29, of the 1000 block of Kenneth Circle, was charged with possession of 0.5 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on July 25, police said. Hussaini crashed into another car on the corner of Summit and Spring streets, police said. Officers found a bag with marijuana and two pipes in a bush nearby, and Hussaini told police it was his, police said. He was taken to the police station and released on his own recognizance.
