A man was seriously injured Sunday night when his car flipped over on I-290 near Elk Grove Village.
Illinois State Police said the man was driving a Honda westbound on I-290 at about 8:30 p.m. when he apparently made a late decision not to exit at Thorndale Avenue.
Authorities said the man, whose age and identity aren't known, attempted to veer back onto the highway. His vehicle traveled through a grassy median, struck a light pole and then flipped over.
Elk Grove Village firefighters transported the motorist to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. His condition is unknown.
