Grand marshall of Lindenhurst parade announced

Veteran Bill Isaacson will serve as grand marshall for this year’s superhero-themed Lindenfest Parade, taking place at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 11.

Isaacson, a Lindenhurst resident, served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War. He took part in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He returned home, went back to college and retired from Abbott Laboratories about 40 years later. He and his wife, Winifred, have two children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The parade will step off from Rolling Ridge and Beck Road, heading south on Beck, turning right on Sand Lake Road, passing the Lindenfest grounds and ending at Valley Drive.
