St. Charles church hosts swing choir

Submitted by Bethlehem Lutheran Church

The Swing Choir Tour from Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center in Oregon, Ill., will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1145 N. Fifth Ave. (Route 25) in St. Charles.

A freewill offering to support LOMC will be collected during the concert, and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match the donations. A dessert reception will follow the performance.

The LOMC Swing Choir, which includes Bethlehem member Claire Heronemus, a senior at Batavia High School, is comprised of Illinois youth in ninth through 12th grades. They are under the direction of Naomi Schock of Monroe Center and choreographer Brandi Peters of Clifton.

The Swing Choir is on tour throughout Northern and Central Illinois for nine days following a week of rehearsals and activities at LOMC.

The LOMC Swing Choir has been performing in churches in the Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin areas for more than 20 years, with new members joining every year. Many youth in this group have been performing together for several years.

The year-round retreat facility and summer camp is a ministry of the Central/Southern Illinois, Central States, Northern Illinois and metropolitan Chicago Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Swing Choir Tour is one of many summer camp programs offered. With its camp and retreat facilities and 640 acres of forest, prairie, pond and hills, more than 10,000 annual visitors find LOMC a beautiful place to learn and grow in their faith.
