Medline acquires Perrigo business

Mundelinea-based Medline Industries Inc. said it will acquire some key assets of Perrigo Co.’s personal hygiene business. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

Medline will take on the manufacturing and laboratory assets, and assumed the lease on Perrigo’s plant in Lake Worth, Fla., where Medline will now manufacture a number of personal hygiene products, including enemas, douche and oral saline laxatives.

Medline will manufacture these products for retail under the Curad brand, as well as on a private label basis.

“Through this acquisition, as well with the recent launch of innovative products like the Curad BioMask, Medline is strengthening our growing position in the retail market and expanding the Curad portfolio to meet the growing needs of retailers and consumers,” said Medline’s Chief Executive Officer Charlie Mills.

Medline is the nation’s largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of medical and surgical supplies and the makers of Curad branded products.
