Amboy man charged in killing, home invasion

Authorities in northern Illinois have made an arrest in the homicide of a 79-year-old Amboy man.

Officials in Lee County say Delmar Leroy Daniels was found dead in his home Wednesday after a concerned relative went to check on him. Daniels’ wife was treated for minor injuries at Mendota Community Hospital.

Sheriff John Varga tells WGLC Radio that a 32-year-old man was arrested in his Amboy home Thursday. He’s facing charges of first-degree murder and home invasion.

Varga says his department is pleased to have been able to make a quick arrest but there are still a number of unanswered questions. The case remains under investigation.

Amboy is located about 40 miles southwest of Rockford.
