Abbott’s no-hitter helps Bandits snap skid

Monica Abbott fired a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts as the Chicago Bandits snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-0 victory over the Carolina Diamonds at the Ballpark at Rosemont on Thursday.

Kristen Butler hit a solo homer in the sixth for the only run the Bandits (16-9) ended up needing. Shannon Doepking also hit a solo homer in the sixth.

Abbott struck out the side in the first and fifth innings.

The Bandits and Diamond play game two of the series at 7:35 p.m. Friday.
