Winfield voters demand voice on police, video gambling

Winfield residents upset about the village board legalizing video gambling and possibly outsourcing police services want to take both issues out of trustees' hands. And they already got a third of small town's roughly 6,600 registered voters to sign a pair of petitions to make that happen. “We wanted to put the matter completely out of reach of a challenge by them or members of the 'gaming industry,'” Jed Skillman said.
