Law student is named Illinois Veteran of the Month

A DePaul University law student and U.S. Army veteran has been honored as the “Veteran of the Month” for July.

The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs is honoring Daniel Sylvester. He is a doctoral candidate at DePaul’s College of Law, where he founded a veterans’ service organization. He’s working to start a veterans’ legal clinic at DePaul.

Sylvester served on active duty as an officer in the Army from 1988 to 1999, participating in humanitarian operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He also was a part of the Dayton Peace Accords Implementation Forces. He was awarded several medals for achievement and meritorious service.
