Buffalo Grove man faces sexual assault charge

Cook County Judge Jill Cerone Marisie on Tuesday set bail at $100,000 for a 22-year-old man charged with assaulting a women during a house party Saturday in Arlington Heights.

Omar Ontiveros, of the 400 block of Diane Drive in Buffalo Grove, was charged with criminal sexual assault, a class 1 felony punishable by 4 to 15 years in prison.

Ontiveros is accused of entering a bedroom at about 2:30 a.m. July 14 and sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman who lay unconscious on a bed, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Jennifer Walsh. Another woman who was asleep on the same bed at the time awoke and alerted two other people who were asleep on the floor, Walsh said. Ontiveros fled and was later identified by several other party guests, she said.

His background includes a 2011 arrest for driving on a revoked or suspended license, for which he received jail time, Walsh said. In 2009, Ontiveros received probation for retail theft, conditional discharge for criminal trespass and supervision for DUI, Walsh said. In 2008, he spent 40 days in jail for theft and 12 days for resisting arrest and possession of alcohol by a minor.

He next appears in court on Aug. 10.
