‘Walk with the Mayor’ in Elgin neighborhoods

Submitted by City of Elgin

Activate Elgin and the City of Elgin are partnering to get Elgin residents out and exercising on a regular basis through the newly launched “Walk with the Mayor” program.

Residents are invited to join Mayor David Kaptain as he walks through six different Elgin neighborhoods this summer.

“I want to encourage all Elgin residents to exercise regularly, so that they can enjoy the benefits of better health. I am an avid walker and invite our residents to walk with me when I come to visit their neighborhood,” Mayor Kaptain said.

All walks will start at 6:30 p.m. and last about 45 minutes. The next walk will take place Wednesday, July 18, at College Green Park in College Green subdivision. It will be followed Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Zion Lutheran Church in the Southwest Area Neighborhood; Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Settlers Park in Providence Subdivision; and Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Unity Park with Neighbors of South East Elgin.

Activate Elgin promotes communitywide efforts to improve health, well-being, and overall quality of life. For details, call (847) 931-6127.
