Bridge work to slow traffic in Lombard
Traffic on St. Charles Road in Lombard will be slower than usual this week as a result of work on the Great Western Trail bridge, officials said Monday.
The two eastbound lanes of St. Charles Road will be closed Wednesday, July 18, from St. Charles Place for about 500 feet east. All traffic will be shifted to the westbound side of St. Charles Road.
On Thursday, July 19, the westbound side of St. Charles Road will be closed at the same location.
The lane closures are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.
Officials said the closures are necessary to allow crews to install steel pile foundations for the bridge abutments.
