Find a way to end Madigan’s reign

We celebrate the independence of our nation this month. In Illinois it is time for the “rebirth” of our state. Our state boasts one of the worst financial conditions in America. We are the leader in lawsuit awards and high taxes, and we have an unfriendly business climate and one of the worst-funded pension programs. The road to this financial disaster took decades to travel.

One constant in Illinois politics has been the speaker of the House, Mike Madigan. Madigan has been the speaker for 12 million Illinois citizens for 28 of the past 30 years. The most powerful official, the man in charge, the final say for three decades.

How has that worked out? Well, millions of people have been forced down the Madigan trail of secrecy, last-minute backroom deals, “pay for votes” and corruption. Madigan’s “okey-dokey” is the final say on everything that has Illinois at the threshold of financial ruin. One legislative district rules the rest of the state. Millions suffer for that district’s vote.

Call and write your lawmakers and tell them you will not vote for them in November unless they pledge not to vote for the Madigan way of life. Madigan’s reign approves not paying pensions after collecting your money to pay them. Enough! The Madigan plan led us here, and it is our responsibility to change direction. Demand a no vote for Madigan as speaker. Ask those running (letters, calls or questions at campaign functions) to pledge no to Madigan for speaker, yes to Illinois and a new direction.
