Pitching matchups: The White Sox' Jose Quintana (4-1) vs. Bruce Chen (7-8) Friday at 7:10 p.m.; Jake Peavy (7-5) vs. Luke Hochevar (6-8) Saturday at 6:10 p.m.; Chris Sale (10-2) vs. Luis Mendoza (3-5) Sunday at 1:10 p.m.

At a glance: The White Sox make the first of three trips to Kansas City in the second half. The Sox always seem to struggle vs. Kansas City. They lost two of three to the Royals at home in May and were 7-11 vs. K.C. last season. Quintana has been a huge surprise for the White Sox. The rookie left-hander has allowed 2 runs or fewer in 7 of his 8 starts and has a 2.04 ERA. Chen is 3-4 with a 3.30 ERA in 15 career appearances vs. the Sox. Alexei Ramirez has a six-game hitting streak and is batting .500 (12-for-24) with 7 RBI over the stretch.
