The Fremont PTO named Susan Hurley as the recipient of the Excellence in Volunteering Award honor this year. The EVA was established in 1991 to honor longtime Fremont volunteers whose last child is graduating from the district.

Hurley volunteered in many capacities, including hospitality, fundraising, the holiday boutique, Ladies Night Out, book fairs, and cultural arts.

She began her volunteering at Fremont when her oldest son, Matthew, was in kindergarten. Matthew will be starting his sophomore year at the University of Virginia in the fall. Her son Andrew will be a freshman at Mundelein High School in the fall.
