Pa. man scheduled for plea in SUV on runway case
PHILADELPHIA — A man accused of crashing his vehicle through a fence and racing down a runway at Philadelphia International Airport is expected to plead guilty to federal charges.
Court documents say Kenneth Mazik is scheduled to plead guilty Tuesday to charges stemming from his March 1 arrest following a tarmac police chase at speeds of more than 100 mph.
Air traffic controllers had to divert 75 airplanes into holding patterns, including one that was about 20 seconds from touching down on the same runway where the chase happened.
Mazik, of Chadds Ford, is charged with disrupting airport operations. Mazik’s attorney has said he was having irrational thoughts that people were chasing him.
The FBI found the incident wasn’t connected to terrorism.
