Gurnee police special enforcement

Gurnee police have released results from a Fourth of July holiday special traffic enforcement campaign. Police conducted enhanced impaired driver and safety restraint enforcement activities villagewide from June 22 through July 4. Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, police said the enforcement actions were designed to remove drunk and drugged drivers from the roadways and increase safety restraint compliance. Police made four drug- and alcohol-related arrested in more than 60 extra hours worked. They issued 13 safety restraint violations and wrote a total of 69 tickets. Eight Gurnee officers participated in the effort.
