Cops: Bloomingdale woman walks in on burglary

A Schaumburg man was charged after a woman returned to find him burglarizing her house in Bloomingdale, police and prosecutors said Monday.

James Conner III, 22, of the 600 block of Academy Court, was ordered held on $100,000 bail during a hearing in DuPage County bond court. He is charged with residential burglary.

Authorities said the victim came home about 12:30 p.m. Sunday and heard voices coming from the upstairs of her house on the 200 block of Harvard Lane. After calling out, she stepped outside and called 911, then saw Conner come running out of her front door, said Police Investigations Watch Cmdr. John Krueger.

Assistant State’s Attorney Cathy DeLaMar said the victim gave a description of the burglar, and police arrested Conner moments later about six blocks away. She said he was sweating profusely and had the victim’s iPod in his pocket, though he claimed he found it outside.

A second suspect is believed to have taken part in the burglary but was not immediately arrested, DeLaMar said in court. The case remained under investigation, Krueger said.

Judge Elizabeth Sexton set bail on Monday at $100,000, meaning Conner would have to post $10,000 to be released from the county jail.
