The difference with today’s immigration

Quoting your June 27 article, “Golfview elementary school has received a grant for more bilingual books for the library and the grant will not only help students, but parents can learn with the books. too.” The article goes on to say the student body is more than 90 percent English learners. Please say the 90 percent was a typographical error. If not, does this not reflect our entire nation? If so, is it any wonder the United States is way down the list of the other nations in academic standards?

Instead of giving the teachers more money, how about hiring more border agents and immigration officers and give them the tools for the job they were hired to do? Why can’t President Obama’s administration understand this, instead of suing Arizona for trying to protect their border? We all realize our nation was built on immigrants, but certainly not this way. It wasn’t that many years ago when my husband had to sponsor his brother’s friend to come over from Norway. In other words, he was financially responsible for his friend until she could support herself.

Now, who supports immigrants? The United States government. How does the government do this? Why, just tax its citizens.
