Naperville man’s body found on side of road

A 74-year-old Naperville man was found dead on the side of the road Friday morning, authorities said. He had been walking home from a convenience store

James C. Hobbs was pronounced dead at 10:53 a.m. on the scene at Bailey Road near Coach Drive in Naperville, according to DuPage County Deputy Coroner Sam Stark. Hobbs was already dead by the time emergency crews arrived.

Authorities said Hobbs, who lived in a nearby apartment complex, had gone to get something to eat, and on his return trip, he was discovered lying in the grass by a passer-by.

An official cause of death hasn’t yet been determined, though it appears to be natural, Stark said.

She did rule out his death being related to Friday’s heat.
