Voters have mixed reaction to Jackson’s illness
Voters in Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.’s Chicago-area district are torn about wanting to know more about the Democrat’s medical condition and wanting to respect his privacy.
Jackson has been on medical leave for exhaustion. His office announced Thursday that his condition is more serious than previously thought and that the congressman requires inpatient medical treatment. But his staff hasn’t disclosed where he is or what specifically Jackson is suffering from.
Seventy-four-year-old Frances West says she wants to be fair but that it’s difficult with such little information. She says a congressman should disclose his whereabouts.
But 60-year-old Ann Baker says she doesn’t think it’s anybody’s business. She says she’s supportive of Jackson and he’s entitled to the benefit of the doubt.
Jackson’s district includes Chicago neighborhoods and South suburbs.
