A better way to contact lawmakers

Fred Crespo may call the invasion on his private space “almost personal,” but I’m not a politician, and I can call it what it is: harassment and trespassing. If I were his neighbor I wouldn’t have hesitated to call the police on this group. First, make a commitment to become a citizen of the U.S. if you want a voice in political matters. If you found that in Deacon Mario Contreras fine. Call or write your local senator and representative.

At this time, as we all know, Illinois is deep in financial crisis. Lawmakers are brave enough to tackle this problem. Everyone has to share responsibility. You talk about higher education — I’m thinking medical care and food. Your group, Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, would be more of a help if you did what I did. Contact your legislatures and give your ideas how you could raise money for your cause. It’s a good cause, so be a solution and not a problem.
